Overview

History

S.KT. is a Japanese music creator known for his gentle, pop music.

Influenced by various media and his surroundings from a young age, he began listening to a wide variety of music, albeit shallowly. His current favorite genres have also been influenced by a wide range of elements, including illustrations, audiobooks, games, anime, special effects, and other mixed media.

His music classes in elementary school shaped his current interest in music, an interest that continued through club activities and music classes.

In 2018, he was given a smartphone app (GarageBand) and discovered the concept of “making” a song, sparking his interest in music production. He continued to make music for himself and his family, discovering the joy of music production. Around the same time, he began taking up rhythm games as a hobby, and his exposure to the many songs he played later led him to submit music to public competitions.

In 2020, he switched to a computer (MacBook) and began producing music using Logic. He learned basic music theory and the concept of plug-in synthesizers, and began building a desktop music production environment.

At the end of 2022, he began posting music for his life’s work, the project “S.KT. Music.” In addition to his mainstream activities on YouTube, Niconico, and SoundCloud, he also distributes his work on music streaming services, openly sharing his creations. Having begun using voice synthesis software to create vocal songs, he began to seriously explore Vocaloid music and participate in events such as The VOCALOID Collection. He also personally created the UTAU voicebank “Sekkita.”

In 2023, he launched his own website, “S.KT. Music Portal,” where users can browse all of the content he has created through his musical career.

Influenced by the Boys’ Love (BL) works he encountered, he began to feel a desire to express emotional movements and relationships through music. As a result, the following year in 2025, he launched his own project, “S/KT.“, in which he sings the subtleties of emotion. In November of the same year, S.KT. Music Portal was revamped, allowing fans to see a wider range of activities, including event participation and fan creations.

His activities extend beyond music production; he has demonstrated his commitment to pursuing projects through his music, such as by taking on challenges to compose a song in 10 minutes and proudly publishing the results.

He also creates the lyrics, illustrations, videos, voiceovers, and writings that accompany his music, expressing his messages in a wide variety of ways. These unique works are (thankfully) attracting attention.

Some of the original songs he has posted on YouTube have been viewed over 100 times, thanks to his supporters. He is exploring ways to expand his horizons, including through his unique participation in events and communities, and releasing fan-created works that actively embody his passions.

• When creating derivative works based on others’ material, the creator tends to actively communicate with the original creators, making every effort to prevent misunderstandings—such as releasing content without permission.
• S.KT. views the reinterpretation of his work by others positively and encourages the creation of derivative works based on his content. (guidelines available here).

Trends in music production

• Having been exposed to and influenced by a wide variety of sounds and music since childhood, my interests are “broad but shallow.” Consequently, my musical tastes span a diverse range of genres, including pop, classical, video game music, and novelty songs. Since adopting a DAW-based workflow—which allows for the placement of virtually any sound—I have gravitated toward an approach of “using whatever sounds work” to craft my tracks. I identify musical elements that resonate with me personally and incorporate them into my composition and arrangement.
• I keep a running log of lyrical sketches based on events I have experienced—whether directly or indirectly—in society. Drawing inspiration from these notes, I often write songs centered on people struggling amidst a sense of aimless anxiety.
• While I take in a wide range of influences, I also tend to become intensely passionate about the things I love, often displaying a deeply devoted, singular focus on specific interests.
